3 Oaks Middle School

Academics
Three Oaks Academy students experience a curriculum that is based on individual student academic needs. Middle school students learn best when they are challenged to think critically and are taught how to be responsible learners. Our middle school students are exposed to a variety of research-based reading programs in the developmental, advanced and intensive reading classrooms. This enables them to build a foundation of literacy skills that will prepare them for the rigors of high school and beyond.
Our middle school mathematicians experience a rigorous mathematics program that utilizes direct instruction, real life connections, the use of math journals and mini lessons. This allows our students to continue their spiraling learning, so that key concepts such as ratios, fractions, statistics and percentages are continuously reinforced. Students also read articles focusing on the application of mathematical concepts, thus connecting the classroom to real life scenarios.
Fine Arts
Students receive music and visual art instruction as well as the opportunity to take a year long band, orchestra or choir class. They develop a love of the arts and learn to appreciate masterpieces from every era. Rigorous fine arts instruction cultivates self-motivated, adaptable and competent students equipped for life.
In Sixth grade, students choose their Fine Arts Major (Art or Music) and remain in that Major through Seventh and Eighth grades. They participate in their Major classes four days a week while also taking general art or world music on the other day of the week.
Students are given excellent literature to challenge their minds as they work on increasing the complexity of writing styles and sentence structure while studying annotating, citing and summarizing from secondary sources. They also continue their practice of recitation and public speaking skills. In the Religion classes, Sixth grade examines universal epistles; Seventh grade delves into two books of wisdom literature and eighth grade concludes its study by exploring God’s plan for all eternity.
Athletics
Located in Fort Myers, Florida, Three Oaks Middle School serves grades six through eight. It has 1,066 students and a student-teacher ratio of 21:1.
