Paramount Middle School in South Bend

Paramount Middle School is a new school in South Bend with a unique approach to learning. Students are responsible for their own homework assignments as well as class work and projects.

Teachers are using new programs like Amplify to teach reading comprehension, and Alondra Middle School medical detectives are now connected with Paramount High School’s Project Lead The Way (PLTW) engineering classes.

Pre-Kindergarten

California’s local educational agencies (LEAs) serve a diverse population of young children with varied needs and experiences. Many of these children are low-income, and a large percentage are dual language learners. The challenge for LEAs is to ensure that access and enrollment equity is a central focus of the Universal PreKindergarten (UPK) implementation, while also connecting UPK to broader goals and strategies that will lead to sustainable outcomes for all young children.

One way to do this is to integrate UPK into the district LCAP. This will allow districts to systematically focus on alignment, partnership development, and whole child approaches in the early grades. Additionally, integrating UPK into the district LCAP can support efforts to strengthen and align P-3 systems to sustain the gains and outcomes of UPK.
